Optima 34/78 YellowTop 870A 12V Extreme Vibration Resistant BatteryReviewsI bought eight of the Optima yellow top batteries for house batteries in a sailboat for the convenience of AGM, no fill, no spill, etc. These batteries are charged by a state of the art 4 stage regulator, plus solar panels on a microprocessor charge controller. The batteries are all in one bank and charged/discharged equally and never below 85%. In other words they are pampered. Now the bad, one battery failed within a week of installation. It started gassing and heating up even under a light charge. After about a year another one developed an internal short and its voltage dropped to around 8V. It was easy to detect by just touching the top. It was warmer than the rest. Six months after that, two more developed internal shorts with the same symptoms. These batteries are over rated. It appears that the build quality from battery varies widely. I will never buy another one. I was hesitant to buy this because of all the reviews saying the battery was poorly packaged and would arrive damaged. Knowing Amazon has a good returns policy, I took the chance and ordered it. I'm in NY and the battery was shipped by truck cross country (I watched the tracking updates). It took about a week for it to arrive. When I finally received it, I realized I was lucky. The battery was in good condition with no breaks or scratches on it. At the same time, it came in a simple cardboard box with some cushioning on top, but nothing on the bottom. This is a very heavy item and it's very easy to visualize the bottom of the battery getting damaged during a long truck ride as there is no protection whatsoever between the bottom of the battery and the 1/4 inch cardboard box it comes in. I don't get it, sometimes they go overboard & package the most trivial of items in styrofoam and bubble wrap, and with this 50lb. item it's basically just covered in 1/4 inch of cardboard. The battery itself seems fine- ...started my car up fine (although I can't comment on it over the long term just yet). I decided to order this battery through Amazon since it was about $50 cheaper than local retailers. Since I've never purchased a car battery online, I called Amazon and Optima to ask how a warranty claim would work when the battery was purchased through Amazon. The people I spoke with gave me some very surprising information, which I thought I'd share with you: 1. Amazon only accepts returns for up to 30 days after the item was purchased. After 30 days, the customer will be referred to the manufacturer of the item. 2. Optima refers all online purchases back to the original retailer. The full warranty cannot be honored through Optima unless the battery was purchased from one of Optima's authorized online retailers. The authorized retailers are shown on Optima's site; Amazon is not one of them. 3. Optima is unable to honor any warranty for batteries purchased through Amazon because Optima is unaware of the condition of the batteries, the shipping procedures, how long the batteries have been in a warehouse, etc. The Optima Yellow Top series are arguably some of the best auto batteries currently on the market, but the money saved by buying from Amazon clearly isn't worth the almost nonexistent warranty. I bought this car battery to replace a old worn out battery. I decided to use a less powered battery because I live in the west cost bay area.but what I didn't realize is the battery wasn't a direct fit .I had to cut and modify the holder that came with the battery. kinda hokey but it all works good after 2 months no problems. Everything I had hoped for in a car battery.. strong cold cranking amps and a huge reserve capacity. My lights don't dim anymore when the bass on my stereo hits hard or when the AC is running. This is in a 97 volkswagen vr6. Had a redtop before but it finally crapped out after about 7 years and way too many discharges. Big thumbs up for any optima battery. Average Rating:![]() |

Scosche IU3.5RC 3.5mm Retractable CableReviewsThis product normally retails for something like $20 at Best buy and I got it at a steal here. I initially bought one that wasn't retractable at Best Buy for $12.99. I decided that I didn't like the cord, so I decided to look online for the retractable ones. This works great and it doesn't have the long cord to get in the way of my car radio system. Love it!!! I had another not retractable cord which didn't give me any issues. This one however, seems to be very particular. It will work as long as there is no sideways pressure on the chord. but if the player is situated so that the chord is being pushed slightly to one side it does not make a good connection. This may be partly due to my player, but the chord I had before worked fine. This product lasted about a year before I had to start to shimmy and mess around with the cable position to have both L and R audio. I expect it to die soon and may or may not order it again. I purchased this for my car with the idea that a retractable cable would keep my car clean. Unfortunately, the retracting mechanism doesn't work very easily. Also, the cable is way too thin, enough to make you feel like it could rip at any point you pull on it. Low quality product that only lasted me a week. Came out of the box broken. Would not buy a retractable, the wire is two thin to take the use of retracting. Buy a straight cable. Average Rating:![]() |

Sony XAMC10 External Mic for BT (Black)ReviewsMost have you have the radio. makes a world of difference - to those hearing you I have a Pioneer AVIC F90-BT and would hear complaints from the people I called that I sounded far away. I decided to get this mic to improve the sound quality but unfortunately was told by the person on the other line that now I sound like I'm far away, in a cave. This was with the Sony mic in the same place as the Pioneer. Other than the Sony branding this mic seems to be exactly like the one that was included with my AVIC navigation unit but perhaps the internals are of lesser quality. I would imagine that this is much better than a built-in, but it was actually worse than the Pioneer external mic to which it was compared. What you see is what you get. All the necessary parts and documentation are there, not that it requires any documentation because installation is simple. I've had it for a couple months and it's worked just as well as I'd hoped it would. This is certainly better than just using the mic on the radio. My wife does not have to yell anymore for me to hear her. Very easy setup, just plug in and put it where you want it. There isn't much you can say about a microphone, but if your radio is compatible with this one, installation is easy and sound quality is good. Average Rating:![]() |

Pioneer CD-IU230V Ipod Audio/Video Direct Cable For Avic-F900Bt & Avic-F700BtReviewsAfter some time it starts get loose and deliver noise thruogh letf or right channel speakers. Get the Apple cable, works perfect. I installed this cable about 8 months ago and could not have been happier. Occasionally the connection would fail but it was nothing reconnecting the iPhone couldn't solve. Sound quality was fine. No complaints. About a month ago however, I began experiencing strange failures. Either the passenger-side speakers/sub in my 370z wouldn't work at all with sound only coming through the driver's side. Occasionally, the connection would come through full of static, extremely muted or "fuzzy". These symptoms became permanent yesterday. For a $50.00 cable, less than a year of use before failure is utterly unacceptable. Now I have to go through the hassle of taking my headunit out to install another cable. I'm going to try the Apple version (assuming it will work) rather than this shoddy knockoff. Although this is a refurbished item, I do not have any problems with it at all. I used this to connect my Ipod classic (1st generation) to the Pioneer X910BT. I do not disconnect them a lot, and the Ipod is always connected. The sound quality and the video quality seems alright. LIke others i too had a problem with this cable getting only audio from the drivers side of my vehicle. I have the 910bt in a 04 navigator and the cable worked fine for about 3 months, right when the warranty runs out, i begin to have problems. After contacting Pioneer, they basically told me "too bad, replace the cable." So now not only have i paid over $1k for my navigation, pioneer doesnt even stand by their product. Its obviously a manufacturer defect. Not much to say... it's a cable, and it works. It would have been nice if the USB portion of it were longer - but that's a manufacturing issue, not the seller's. The seller was excellent... sent it on time and it was well packaged. Average Rating:![]() |

The Challenger is described in a book about 1960s American cars as Dodge’s "answer to the Mustang and Camaro." It was one of two Chrysler E-body cars, the other being the slightly smaller Plymouth Barracuda. "Both the Challenger and Barracuda were available in a staggering number of trim and option levels" and were intended "to compete against cars like the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, and to do it while offering virtually every engine in Chrysler's inventory." However they were "a rather late response to the ponycar wave the Ford Mustang had started." The author of a book about "Hemi"-powered muscle cars says that the Challenger was conceived in the late 1960s as Dodge’s equivalent of the Plymouth Barracuda, and that the Barracuda was designed to compete against the Mustang and Camaro. He adds that Chrysler intended the new Dodge as "the most potent ponycar ever," and positioned it "to compete against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird." Similarly, the author of a book about the Chrysler pony-cars notes that "the Barracuda was intended to compete in the marketplace with the Mustang and Camaro/Firebird, while the Dodge was to be positioned against the Cougar" and other more luxury-type musclecars.
The Challenger's longer wheelbase, larger dimensions and more luxurious interior were prompted by the launch of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, likewise a bigger, more luxurious and more expensive pony car aimed at affluent young American buyers. The wheelbase, at 110 inches (2,794 mm), was two inches longer than the Barracuda, and the Dodge differed substantially from the Plymouth in its outer sheetmetal, much as the Cougar differed from the shorter-wheelbase Ford Mustang.
Exterior design was done by Carl Cameron, who also did the exterior for the 1966 Dodge Charger. Cameron based the 1970 Challenger grille off an older sketch of his 1966 Charger prototype that was to have a turbine engine. The Charger never got the turbine, but the Challenger got that car's grille. Although the Challenger was well-received by the public (with 76,935 produced for the 1970 model year), it was criticized by the press, and the pony car segment was already declining by the time the Challenger arrived. Sales fell dramatically after 1970, and Challenger production ceased midway through the 1974 model year. About 165,500 Challengers were sold over this model's lifespan.
